Roy Cooper
Elected Governor in 2016 and re-elected in 2020, both years that Donald Trump carried North Carolina, Cooper’s mission was to ensure that all North Carolinians had the opportunity to be better educated, healthier, and more prosperous for generations to come.
Governor Cooper worked to create thousands of new jobs and worked with members of both parties to enact hundreds of bipartisan bills. He succeeded in getting a bipartisan agreement to expand Medicaid, which in early 2025 has already brought health care to more than 650,000 North Carolinians. He enacted a plan to incentivize hospitals to relieve more than $4 billion of existing medical debt for 2 million eligible North Carolinians and prevent new debt. He also focused on boosting public education, tackling the opioid crisis, revitalizing rural communities and making sure North Carolinians have the training to fill the better-paying jobs that require new skills.
Governor Cooper believes that if we work together, we can build a North Carolina that works for everyone.

Chuck will always stand up for working families.
In Congress, Chuck will fight corruption, prioritize our working families and small businesses, support public education, work to build an economy that works for all of us, and expand access to affordable healthcare. He’ll always vote to protect Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security benefits that North Carolinians depend on every day, as well as the benefits that our veterans earned. He’ll stand up for equal justice for every community, and he’ll always protect a woman’s right to choose and access critical reproductive healthcare.

We are seeing a shift in North Carolina as constituents are becoming fed up with “politics as usual.” I want to bring a fresh new energy and new ideas that people are asking for. Our current Representatives are no longer in touch with what the people of Western North Carolina are asking for. I’m running to represent the everyday people of this district. A vote for me will be a vote for the hard working people of this district.
I am running on a platform of delivering funding for rebuilding Western North Carolina following Hurricane Helene; fully funding public education; increasing affordable health care access; lowering costs for working families — including housing, utilities, groceries, and child care; and advocating for our state employees and retirees.

Frank Hughes
As a candidate for NC State Senate, Frank is first and foremost a passionate and strident advocate for public school students, teachers, and staff. He is dedicated to ensuring that students’ needs are met and that they become active participants in democratic self-governance. He strongly supports access to high quality affordable healthcare regardless of age or income level. Frank believes that folks deserve to be able to live with dignity where they work and play; in safe and affordable housing. He deeply feels a responsibility to serve as a steward of our forests, rivers, and farms.
Running for Alleghany County Commissioner
Brad Mabe
Brad has a long history of community service in Alleghany County as a twelve year member of the school board and as a first responder with the Piney Creek Fire Dept for over forty years. He is a life long resident of Alleghany County raising two daughters here and being an active participant in community events that have benefited the residents of the county.
